AUTUMN INTERN REVIEW
Last year we decided to take on 3 interns over the event season; a summer, spring and autumn intern. Each internship was for 3 months and our interns learned what it meant to be part of a fast paced business that changes day to day. Our Autumn Intern, Bella has been a joy to have on our team and with today being her final day with us, we asked her to share 3 things that she learned while taking part in our internship program. Take it away Bella!
Not knowing what you want to do after school is something many adolescents struggle with – me included. I made the decision to take a year off after high school to gain as much experience as I could, despite schools persistence of pursuing tertiary education. From travelling to developing new skills and working both paid and unpaid, I wanted to do all I could to further build my resume – time off does not mean time off!
Having come from a creative past, being able to continue down this pathway was always an interest. Pompette has exposed me to the wedding industry through this autumn season and this internship has allowed a path for me to grow and develop and I can’t wait to see where it leads to next.
- NEW SKILLS: Ranging from artistic arrangements at weddings, creating flowers for centrepieces and providing customer assistance; all skills to build my pathway.
- HARD WORK: Weddings are not always the glitz and glamour that you think. There is much preparation done behind the scenes to create astonishing weddings and I have gained so much appreciation for the wedding vendors of Perth and the work ethic of each person that I was lucky to work with
- PERTH'S BEAUTY: Juggling multiple weddings nearly every weekend these past three months, I explored many unique venues that Perth has to offer. Many places that I didn’t even realise existed including the secret hideaway which is in the heart of Perth’s CBD! The stand out location would definitely be the precious apple orchard amongst Perth’s hills (everyone should know about this place.)
I will always cherish my three months at Pompette. Having worked alongside many talented people has inspired me to continue my journey in the creative industry.
